Welcome!

Church CANCELED tomorrow due to Snowy Weather

Due to inclement weather, ALL Grace Baptist Services are CANCELED for tomorrow, Sunday, December 9th. Please be safe and glorify God with your families. Also, please be sure to read through the announcements below for our upcoming events at GBC in December!

..
Be sure to join us for this year’s GBC Children’s Choir production of “Christmas: Where, When, and Why” on Sunday, December 16th, at 6:30pm. Please, invite your friends and family, and remember to join us after the show for cookies and refreshments. Contact Pam or Maura Elkins with any questions.

Attention Children’s Choir Families: Because of the snow, we are not having our usual Sunday Christmas Play rehearsal. Our next rehearsal will be on Friday, December 14th at 6:30pm, and Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for next Saturday at 10am. Thank you performers and parents for your continued practicing!
..
You can help bless a child who has a parent in prison by stopping by our Angel Tree, which is on the Ministry table in the Sanctuary. Please, consider picking up an angel card from the tree, purchasing the requested items on the card, praying for the child, and dropping off your wrapped gift (with the angel card attached) by the Angel Tree. The deadline has been moved to this Wednesday, December 12th because of the inclement weather.
..
IMPORTANT ONLINE GIVING ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to processing times for online giving, any online offering that you would like to do before the end of the year must be submitted by TOMORROW, December 9th, to be documented as a 2018 offering.
..
On Monday, December 24th, we will be hosting our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service in the sanctuary at 7pm. It will be a festive event of remembrance and rejoicing, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ over 2,000 year ago in a little town called Bethlehem.
..
Every year, the International Mission Board (IMB) has the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to raise awareness and money for missionaries all over the world, who reach people with the life-saving news of the gospel. The Week of Prayer for International Missions is from Dec 9-16th, and our Missions Ingathering will be on Sunday, December 16th, during the Worship service.

December 2018 Pastor’s Notes

December is finally here, and that can mean only one thing; it’s Christmas!!!! And as most of you already know, I fully agree with Johnny Mathis, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
There is so much to love about Christmas. There’s the wonderful food and the fun gatherings of family and friends. There’s picking out the perfect tree and trimming it with lights and memories of Christmases past. There’s Nat King Cole and all the wonderful songs and hymns that take you right back to being a kid again. And who doesn’t like to curl up on the couch with a warm blanket and watch a Christmas classic like Miracle on 34th Street or It’s a Wonderful Life? Not to mention I live in a house blessed with four women, so we manage to squeeze in a few dozen Hallmark Christmas movies, too.
And of course there is my absolute, ultimate favorite part of the Christmas season: presence!
No, I did not misspell that word. Don’t get me wrong, I like opening presents on Christmas morning just as much as the next guy. But the greatest gift of Christmas is without a doubt, the PRESENCE of Jesus Christ our Lord!
That is, after all, what we are celebrating, right? And this Christmas season, I strongly encourage you to take a break from all the wonderful Christmas traditions for just a moment to focus on the fact that Jesus did come. All of the prophecies were fulfilled on that first Christmas morning over 2,000 years ago, when the Creator entered His creation as a baby boy and was laid in a manger because there was no room for his family at the Inn. Beloved, this is our worship theme this Christmas, that Jesus literally became our Emmanuel, God with us!
